Contact Spitfire Audio Advertisement Since the release of the famed Symphonic Series from Spitfire Audio , many users have requested something very similar, but in a drier acoustic. The creatives at Spitfire have responded by producing the Studio Series , recorded in the acoustic of AIR Studio One, while still offering the excitement of a fairly bright room, in contrast to some of the soundstage packages which can be found elsewhere. Choice woodwinds Like the other available Studio series packages, there are two levels of entry; the regular and more basic version, and the Professional package.
Should I get Berlin Woodwinds Revive?
FriFlo said: I just wonder: How is it possible that they have the ORTFs etc on the Flute 1 and all the other instruments which were supposedly not newly recorded Well, what matters to me is how they sound: If you compare e. Flute 1s and Flute 2s Microphone postitions, do they sound similar apart from the different player and instrument?
If that is the case, the omission of Close 2 for the bassoons is totally ok with me! Click to expand I think they must have already recorded the mic position with the older instruments and just not released them.
The new instruments are wetter by default, and you have to increase volume quite a bit to get them to match. I think also that the number of expression layers is reduced in some instruments in the new version. But I think with the mic positions you can get them to match up pretty well without too much trouble. The new instruments sound really good. Very responsive legato and nice tone. I like the tone more on just about all the instrument compared to the earlier ones.
I wish they would have re-recorded the Bassons, personally as I found them to be the most problematic of the older instruments. They sound nice, but are a bit unwieldy to mix at least in my hands.
I even tried to just use the close mics and MIR and they still sound unfocused. So for me the positives: Great tone Will mix quite well between the two versions of instruments Excellent legato Negatives: Less dynamic layers Some inconsistency in articulations between new and old instruments types of longs, types of trills etc Bassoons really should have been re-recorded in my opinion.
I hope that helps a little bit. Overall I’m happy with the purchase, but not completely blown away.
